Working With The Weaver

Our archetypes are companions who travel with us. As our lives and seasons change, so may the ones we need. Take what speaks to you today.

You Might Notice…

You may find yourself making connections other people don’t immediately see.

A conversation reminds you of something you read years ago. An old idea suddenly seems useful in a completely different context. You pull something out of a drawer because you aren’t quite ready to throw it away—and six months later discover exactly why you kept it.

You may also notice yourself collecting things: ideas, articles, photographs, objects, bits of information, half-finished projects. Not because you have a plan for all of them, but because something about them catches your attention.

The Weaver often begins with “I wonder what would happen if…”

One Small Step…

Put two things together that don’t ordinarily belong together.

Choose two ideas, objects, interests, problems, or unfinished thoughts that have caught your attention lately. Don’t worry about whether the connection makes sense.

Spend a few minutes asking: What could one bring to the other?

You don’t have to make anything useful from the answer. Follow the connection simply because you’re curious about it.

Something To Think About…

We are often encouraged to become more organized by eliminating what doesn’t fit: choose one direction, finish one thing before beginning another, stop getting distracted, decide what something is for.

Sometimes that’s useful.

But sometimes what looks like distraction is actually connection happening before you understand it. The book you bought for one reason becomes useful for another. An abandoned hobby teaches you something you need years later. A conversation changes the way you see a completely unrelated problem.

Not every thread needs to become part of the finished cloth. But you don’t always know which ones will until you’ve followed them for a while.

What have you dismissed as a distraction that might actually be a thread worth following?

A WEaver Affirmation…

I trust the connections that ask for my attention.
