Working With The Alchemist

Our archetypes are companions who travel with us. As our lives and seasons change, so may the ones we need. Take what speaks to you today.

You Might Notice…

The Alchemist often appears when you are tired of circling the same question.

You may notice yourself becoming impatient with conversations that never seem to lead anywhere, promises that remain promises, or situations everyone agrees should change but no one quite changes. Sometimes the signs are smaller.

The group text has spent twenty minutes deciding where to have lunch, and you are resisting the urge to simply make the reservation. Someone is explaining the same problem for the fifth time while dismissing every possible solution. A task you could finish in thirty seconds is taking someone else forever—and you are reminding yourself, They did not ask me.

The Alchemist’s instinct is to move things forward. Her challenge is learning that not every pause is avoidance, and not every problem is hers to solve.

One Small Step…

Choose the thing you’ve been circling.
Think of one decision you’ve been postponing—not because you need more information, but because you’re waiting to feel completely certain.

Sometimes the choice isn’t entirely yours. Something has already changed, and the choice that remains is how you will meet it

Write down what you know right now.

Then ask:
Is there enough here to make one choice?

Not the choice that solves everything.
Not the choice you can never change.
Just the next choice that gives you something new to work with.

Make it. Then let what happens teach you what comes next.

Something To Think About…

There is courage in acting when others hesitate. There can also be courage in waiting when you already know exactly what you would do.

But not every change begins with a choice you get to make.
Sometimes someone else makes the decision. Sometimes circumstances change before you are ready. A door closes, a role ends, a relationship shifts, or a life you understood becomes something different.

The Alchemist cannot always choose what happens. She can choose how she meets what happens.

Experience may have taught you that you can survive a wrong decision. It may also have taught you that you can survive decisions you never got to make.

You may not control what has changed—or even your first response to it. There may be anger, grief, relief, uncertainty, or simply the need for time to understand what has happened.

Agency comes afterward.

Eventually, another question becomes possible:
What is still mine to choose?

You may not be able to restore what was. You may not yet know what comes next. But you can begin to notice what remains—and decide what you will make from it.

What can you make from what remains?
